Larry Smith is a life time resident of Las Vegas, Nevada and joined the Las Vegas Police Dept in 1988. Larry served in patrol then transferred to the gang unit where he specialized in Asian and Mexican gangs. He transferred to the Sexual Abuse Detail as a Detective in 1996.
From there he organized and created the Internet Crimes Against Children Detail (ICAC) and the FBI Innocent Images Joint Task Force. Detective Smith has investigated hundreds of crimes against children including sexual abuse, physical abuse, Internet Travelers and child pornography and fraud cases.
Larry started the “Cyber Crimes” detail in 1999 performing computer forensics for the LVMPD ICAC detail. The main mission if the ICAC detail was the apprehension of sex offenders when their target was children and their tool was the Internet and/or a computer. This included all child pornography cases. In 2005 it was beginning to be clear to him that the newest tool to the child molesters tool box was the cellphone and LVMPDs cell phone forensics unit was created.
In 2001 Larry transferred to the United States Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force and assisted in the creation of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Departments Cyber Crimes Detail.
